STEPS TO BECOME A CNA

Complete a State-Approved CNA Training Program

Enroll in a CNA training program accredited by your state’s nursing board or health department. Programs typically include classroom instruction and clinical practice.

Submit Your Application

Fill out and submit the CNA certification application to your state’s nursing board. Ensure all required documents, such as proof of training completion and identification, are included.

Pass the CNA Certification Exam

The CNA exam usually consists of two parts: a written (or oral) test and a practical skills test. Both parts must be passed to earn certification.

Undergo a Background Check

Most states require a criminal background check and fingerprinting as part of the certification process. This step ensures that applicants have no disqualifying criminal history and are suitable for working with vulnerable populations

Receive Your CNA Certification

Once all requirements are met, you will receive your CNA certification, allowing you to work as a Certified Nursing Assistant in your state.
